From its lofty position, perched atop a ridge in Roodekrans, west of Johannesburg, and with lovely views all around, the Maranatha Retreat and Conference Centre (MRCC) offers all who would sojourn there a “mountain top” experience both literal and spiritual - at economical tariffs.
MRCC is situated only 30km from the bustling city of Joburg and surrounded by sprawling suburbs and new mushrooming up-market housing developments and shopping centres. However, because of its location on Roodekrans koppie, the upgraded facilities of MRCC provide guests with a quiet place of retreat and refreshment.
The huge cross of stones and the words: “Jesus Kom - Maranata” on the southern slope of the property blazon out this truth and can be seen from many kilometres away – a unique landmark kept in good condition by a local community of churches.
Originally built in the 70’s by the Reverend and Mrs J.F. Nel of the Maranatha Mission, the property was purchased by the Baptist Union in 1993 for the new location of Baptist House, and with the purpose of using the accommodation blocks and facilities for the housing and training of the Baptist Youth Ministry teams.
Now some 22 years later, under the stewardship of the Baptist Union Women’s Department, the MRCC is well established and has a total occupancy of 200. ( Please see Accommodation.) As a member of Christian Camping Southern Africa (CCSA) we endeavour to offer a high standard of service to our guests.
MRCC is only 25kms from Lanseria Airport and 50kms from O R Tambo International.
Numerous shopping malls and restaurants are to be found in the surrounding suburbs.
